Much has been made of generation X, high school and college kids using social networks that have their ideas and videos displayed on the Internet. A few sites dominate social networking for the younger set; yet seniors, (folks over 60) have been left out or simply dismissed as being too old or lacking appropriate computer knowledge.

More and more seniors are surfing the Internet and getting over the technophobia of using computers and technologies in general and the Internet in particular.

According to the Pew Research Center, "New cyber-curious seniors, in many senior centers, retirement communities and long-term care facilities have opened Internet cafes and begun offering classes to teach older Americans what many of them swore they would never need – a computer!
